Hand Carved Quartz Crystal Betta Fish

Quartz crystal is such a magical stone in so many ways and for so many reasons and it is such a wildly variable stone. Here I carved a crystal that was “Military Spec Optical Grade.” It came  from old military surplus that were sold off after synthetic quartz became more practical. It is gem grade American quartz and has a fantastic water clear shimmering effect as the light plays through folds and fins, scales and skin. I carved the eyes from old stock dark purple African amethyst. This is a fine art gemstone miniature sculpture and looks absolutely fantastic on display and in hand. It looks very nice on a turntable with good lighting.
