Tiny Swords in the Sky, Hand Carved Guatemalan Jadeite

This piece is a celebration of the passion contained and displayed in nature by even the most diminutive of creatures. I love birds (all animals) and have often watched and marveled at the incredible bravado displayed by male hummingbirds and the spectacular aerial sword fights. As I enjoy our flower beds in the summer I see such industry, drama and pure unadulterated passion as small creatures frenziedly partake of the bounty all while courting lovers, fighting rivals and breeding the next generation. This is a really fascinating piece of Guatemalan jadeite with a fine deep blue color. I have no luck truly capturing its color and presence with camera. it is exceedingly detailed and remarkably well carved. The texture and tactile experience is phenomenal. As light moves across the piece the thinner carved elements transmit the light nicely and highlights those fine details and depths. The accent bead is hand carved aquamarine and the pendant comes on a nicely braided Ritza Tiger Thread adjustable cord.
